The decision to register the limited company (Izaak Walton Golf Club
) was taken by the membership following financial difficulties
encountered by the original commercial organizations involved in the
formation of the golf course. A share issue followed , by which
members could purchase a £1000 shareholding in the then newly
registered company. The resulting share capital secured the land
lease and associated financial commitments outstanding from the collapse
of the previous commercial interest's , securing the future of
the golf club and its membership , and resulting in a membership
structure where all are equal - standing shareholders.
DEVELOPMENT
In addition to securing the club financially , funding has permitted an
extensive programme of course development including a substantial
indigenous tree planting schedule which will further enhance
the parkland attributes of the course. The appointment of experienced
ground staff ensures that Izaak Walton Golf Club remains one of the
prominent golf clubs in the area. Current facilities - which
include driving range/practice area/putting green , locker rooms
, showers , a pleasant and social bar/restaurant area , and substantial
parking facilities - are also being continually appraised and developed
where necessary.
